Liturgical ministers from across the Diocese of Camden are invited to Galloway’s Assumption Church (Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish) for an enriching two-day concert and retreat experience.
The Friday, Nov. 17, concert and Saturday, Nov. 18, retreat day, sponsored by the diocese’s Office of Worship and Christian Initiation, will be led by Tom Kendzia and Jaime Cortez, two nationally-recognized pastoral musicians.
Kendzia, a liturgical musician for more than 40 years, has been regularly featured at national conferences, diocesan workshops and parish events around the globe. He is currently the national liturgy and music consultant for William H. Sadlier Inc., an educational publishing company. He has served as director of music at Christ the King Church in Kingston, R.I., since 1986.
Born in New York and raised in El Salvador, Jaime Cortez is director of liturgy and music at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Scottsdale, Ariz. He has dedicated part of his ministry to promoting Hispanic liturgies and bringing cultures together for worship. He was named Pastoral Musician of the Year in 2016 by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and has many years of experience presenting workshops on liturgy and music for pastoral musicians, Catholic teachers and youth.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help’s Assumption Church is located at 146 South Pitney Road in Galloway.
The concert will take place on Nov. 17 beginning at 7 p.m., and the retreat will be held Nov. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
