Father Edward Bernard Rosinski, 84, former pastor in Sicklerville, died on Dec. 27.
He was a priest of the Diocese of Camden for almost 60 years, having been ordained by Archbishop Celestine J. Damiano on May 25, 1963.
A Philadelphia native, Father Rosinski was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School in South Camden, and studied for the seminary at Saint Charles Borromeo in Philadelphia.
After ordination, he went to Ventnor, serving as parochial vicar at Saint James Parish from 1963-65. Father Rosinski also served in this capacity at Mary, Mother of the Church, Bellmawr (1965-67); Saint Rose of Lima, Haddon Heights (1967-73); Saint Maria Goretti, Runnemede (1973-80); and Saint Mary, Gloucester City (1980-86).
He was named pastor at Saint John Neumann, Sicklerville, in 1986 and ministered to the community there for 15 years, until 2001.
After an extended period of sick leave, Father Rosinski retired in 2006.
Father Edward Lipinski, retired priest of the Diocese of Camden and Father Rosinski’s second cousin, recalled a man who was “loved by his parishioners, and known for his spiritual concern and direction; he made a practice of knowing each parishioner by name.”
“If you were having a bad day, he’d lift your spirits, make your day a little bit better,” Father Lipinski said.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Bishop Dennis Dennis Sullivan on Jan. 4 at Saint Rose of Lima Church in Haddon Heights. Burial followed at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Chews Landing.
