From criminal defense attorney to Villanova chaplain and associate athletic director — A journey of faith

On Friday, May 12, please join the Catholic Business Network for breakfast and an engaging discussion by Father Robert Hagan, O.S.A., about his journey of faith from criminal defense attorney to associate athletic director for Villanova University and chaplain to the football and basketball teams.

Father Rob graduated from Villanova with a bachelor of arts degree in 1987. He went on to earn a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1990. After receiving his law degree, Father Rob spent seven years as an attorney with Gillin and Associates, where he served as criminal defense counsel, in addition to handling contract negotiations, arbitrations and mediations.

However, in 1997 Father Rob entered the Order of Saint Augustine. Since then he has served as chaplain as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and at the University of Maryland, College Park, and received a master’s degree in theology from the Washington Theological Union in 2003.

In his 14th season at Villanova, Father Hagan also oversees the areas of sports medicine and strength and conditioning, and is also the administrator for the golf and tennis programs.
