Bishop Dennis Sullivan joined Irish-Catholic men on Sept. 13 and took part in the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ wreath-laying ceremony at the Barry Monument at the Commodore Barry Bridge in Bridgeport, Gloucester County. Above, Bishop Sullivan with members and dignitaries, including Father Ken Hallahan, spiritual director of the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ Gloucester County chapter; and Father Michael Romano, priest secretary. The mission of the Ancient Order of Hibernians is “to promote friendship, unity and Christian charity.” Commodore Barry, who served in the American Revolutionary War, is sometimes referred to as the Father of the American Navy.
