Last weekend, Boy and Girl Scouts in the Diocese of Camden had their annual Scouting Retreat, this year on the U.S.S. Battleship New Jersey. With the theme of “Keeping Faith Afloat,” the 36 campers who arrived to the ship on March 2 learned who was “The Real Jesus,” designed placemats for the Cathedral Kitchen, learned the Bible stories of “The Great Flood” and “The Wedding at Cana,” and crafted St. Bridget crosses. On March 3, the Scouts visited the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden for a tour, and Mass was celebrated by Father Matthew Hillyard, OSFS, cathedral rector. Staff members from Troop 634, Assumption Parish in Galloway Township, coordinated the weekend.
