Two employees of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Camden, were among a dozen women honored at the Second Annual “Women of Purpose” Celebration at the Antioch Baptist Church, Camden. These ‘Women of Purpose’ were honored for making a lasting impact in the areas of activism and advocacy, environmental justice, health, politics, government, entertainment, business and entrepreneurship.
The Lourdes honorees were Dr. Kathleen Greatrex of Haddonfield, Chief of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and Michelle Vaughn of Woodlynne, operating room supply analyst for the medical center.
Dr. Greatrex, a leading expert in breast imaging, received the award for her commitment to educating Camden women about the importance of breast health through her many outreach efforts including breast cancer screenings and speaking engagements.
Vaughn was honored as the founder of the “Pretty in Pink” Program, an annual event held to promote breast health education and awareness among women of color.
Both women said they devoted their lives to fighting cancer after witnessing loved ones battle the disease.
