Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Shrine will hold a vigil Mass on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. at its St. Lawrence Church site in Lindenwold. This is the evening before the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision of the Supreme Court in 1973 that invalidated 50 state laws against abortion and made abortion legal and available on demand.
Since that date 41 years ago, people dedicated to life have held a peaceful and prayerful March for Life in Washington, D.C. This Mass will be in solidarity with those who will travel to Washington and for the intentions and safety of the travelers. There will be a special blessing for those who will be going on the March.
In addition, after the Mass there will be Eucharistic Adoration until 10 p.m. with meditations and a rosary for life.
Father Joseph Capella, pastor, said that it is appropriate for the parish to host a Mass for Life. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the Americas, of unborn children and of the New Evangelization. And it is only in this image that the Blessed Virgin Mary is shown pregnant. As such, the image of Our Lady embodies motherhood and the sacredness of life in the womb. For more information or directions, call the parish office, 856-627-2222.
