On Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. Msgr. Louis A. Marucci will celebrate the annual Mass in honor of Saint Gerard Majella at Saint Andrew the Apostle Church in Gibbsboro.
Saint Gerard, a Redemptorist lay brother, has been unofficially called the patron of mothers, patron of motherhood and protector of expectant mothers and their unborn children. It has long been believed that through the intercession of Saint Gerard, couples who previously experienced difficulty are able to conceive a child and mothers experiencing difficult pregnancies are able to enjoy safe, joyful births and healthy babies.
Following the Mass, Msgr. Marucci will bless each couple with a first-class relic of Saint Gerard.
The Saint Gerard handkerchief, a sacramental, has long been part of the devotion and will be provided to each couple after being blessed. Handkerchiefs touched to Gerard’s relics have provided comfort and blessing to innumerable mothers who pray for safe deliveries, joyful births and healthy babies.
All are welcome to attend the Mass, following current mask and social distancing guidelines. Saint Andrew the Apostle Church, 27 Kresson-Gibbsboro Road, Gibbsboro, NJ.
