The Catholic Community of Christ Our Light is sponsoring an advocacy day in Washington, D.C., on May 15.
The morning will include a stop at the offices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to meet with staff from the office of Justice, Peace and Human Development. In the afternoon, participants will visit the offices of senators and representatives. The group will be advocating for a budget that does not penalize the poor and also for immigration reform.
The trip will last from 6:45 a.m. – 7 p.m. Cost is $25-40 depending on the number of participants. Scholarships for transportation costs are available through a grant from local Catholic Campaign for Human Development funds.
There will be a preparation meeting on May 8, 7-9 p.m. in the Resurrection School Auditorium. It will be facilitated by Sister Mary Elizabeth Clark, SSJ and members of the parish Justice and Outreach Commission.
