Catholic Charities of South Jersey has announced that veteran CBS3 Eyewitness News journalist Pat Ciarrocchi will return to emcee this year’s annual dinner on Oct. 11 in Atlantic City. This is Ciarrocchi’s second time emceeing the major fundraising event, having last held the reigns in 2017 when Cardinal Joseph Tobin, Archdiocese of Newark, was recognized.

This year’s event honors Rowan University president Dr. Ali Houshmand and five Disciple of Mercy honorees – Cherryl Summers, Sacred Heart Parish, Camden; Patricia Slater, Catholic Community of Christ Our Light, Cherry Hill; Rose Otto, Our Lady of Peace Parish, Williamstown; Mike Brindisi, Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish, Brigantine; and Elizabeth and William Keller, Parish of Saint Joseph, Sea Isle City.

Tickets and sponsorship information can be found at catholiccharitiessouthjersey.org/CCAD for the event being held at the Resorts Conference Center. Every penny raised goes directly to those in South Jersey who are in need. Catholic Charities of South Jersey supports more than 20,000 individuals in the region every year through a variety of services.

A Padua Academy and Rosemont College alumna, Ciarrocchi joined KYW-TV in 1982, serving as anchor continuously until she stepped down from daily work in 2015. At that time, Ciarrocchi was the city’s longest-tenured female anchor. The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia inducted her into its Hall of Fame in 2000.

Ciarrocchi has remained a keen observer of the Catholic Church, most recently interviewing Father Michael Romano in January of this year from the Pontifical North American College Rome as part of CBS3’s coverage after the death of Pope Benedict XVI.

She has also presented within the Diocese of Camden, in 2016 to the Catholic Business Network of South Jersey on the topic of being a Catholic in secular news media, and in 2017 during a special presentation to diocesan priests on the public perception of the Catholic Church and what the Church can do to reach those seeking the faith.
