obarskiStephen F. Obarski, (photo) director of the Office of Worship and Christian Initiation for the Diocese of Camden, blesses himself at the first of a series of sessions on the updated language in the third edition of the Roman Missal. It was held at St. Thomas, Brigantine, on Thursday, Sept. 22.

More Roman Missal Catechesis and Implementation sessions will take place in several parishes in the upcoming weeks. All of the sessions begin at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted. The dates and locations are:

— Oct. 3, Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit/Holy Name Church in Mullica Hill in the parish center

— Oct. 4, St. Joachim Parish in Bellmawr in the church

— Oct. 6, Christ Our Light Parish in Cherry Hill in the cafeteria of Resurrection School.

— Oct. 24, Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Cape May Court House in the church

— Oct. 27, Parish of the Holy Cross at St. Mary Church in Rosenhayn

— Nov. 8, St. Joachim Parish in Bellmawr in the church

The Roman Missal, Third Edition, the ritual text containing prayers and instructions for the celebration of the Mass, is now being prepared for publication. Pope John Paul II announced a revised version of the Missale Romanum during the Jubilee Year 2000. The Roman Missal will be implemented in the United States of America on the First Sunday of Advent, Nov. 27.
