More than 300 guests helped Saint Augustine Preparatory School leaders to bestow its highest honor, the Gregor Mendel Medal Award, on supporter Rose Davis on Oct.17 at the Louis and Josephine Buondonno Forum. The award recognizes Davis’ philanthropic work in supporting Saint Augustine students — “the boys,” as she calls them — and her commitment to Augustinian values and education.
Established in 1974, the Gregor Mendel Medal is given to outstanding constituents of the Saint Augustine school community in recognition of their achievements and philanthropic efforts.
“We congratulate Rose for her exemplary contributions to the Augustinian community,” Father Robert J. Murray, Head of School, said. “Her giving has an extraordinary impact on our gifted young students and underscores the Augustinian mission of fostering tomorrow’s leaders and innovators with Christian values.”
In 2019, Saint Augustine Preparatory School, Richland, celebrates its 60th anniversary. Founded in 1959 by Augustinian Friars with the intention of establishing a school for young seminarians and traditional students, the school’s current enrollment stands at roughly 650 students from eight South Jersey counties.
