Michelle Johnston, a Camden Catholic High School senior and resident of Cherry Hill, has been named a Commended Student in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. As a Commended Student, Johnston placed among the top 5 percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2009 National Merit Scholarship competition. “We at Camden Catholic are extremely proud that Michelle received this recognition and are happy to count her among the many outstanding students we have at our school,” said Thomas Kiely, principal.
Our Lady Star of the Sea Regional School, Atlantic City, closed this week because so many students, teachers and staff reported suffering from flulike symptoms.
Many called in sick on Monday, Nov. 2, and others reported symptoms throughout the day. By the end of the school day, the decision was made to close for the rest of the week.
City and county health departments were notified.
