Family, friends and all faithful are invited May 11 to the transitional diaconate Ordination Mass of seminarians Timothy Mulranen and Thomas Piro.
Bishop Dennis Sullivan will celebrate the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Saint Joseph Church, Sea Isle City. The celebration will be livestreamed on all diocesan social media channels, as well as catholicstarherald.org and youtube.com/camdendiocese.
The ordination to the transitional diaconate marks the final stage in the men’s journeys to the priesthood. Mulranen, whose home parish is Incarnation, Mantua, and Piro, of Notre Dame de la Mer, Wildwood, are third theology at Saint Joseph’s Seminary, Yonkers, N.Y.
Throughout their years of formation, Mulranen and Piro, who are both 25, have reflected on their discernment with blog posts at camdenpriest.org.
“How often do we take for granted the faith that was instilled in us at Baptism?” Mulranen reflected after serving at an Easter Vigil Mass. Such moments are good reminders that “Jesus is at my side … there for me through both the good times and bad times,” he wrote in the post titled, “Witnessing Baptisms at the Easter Vigil.”
He urged all to “remember that we are called to have a ‘child-like’ faith in Jesus where we let Jesus take complete control of our lives so he can guide us to happiness!”
Piro, in a post titled, “Seeing Christ Face to Face,” reflected on Eucharistic Adoration, where “Christ reveals himself to us.”
“Each time we go, we grow in virtue and grace. It is also in this time, when we see the revealed and seek the hidden, that Christ shows us what he wants from us. It is where we go to hear the voice of Christ Jesus speak into our hearts, and it is the first place where we decide if we want to respond to his voice.”
