Sister Lucy Teti, former teacher, dies


Sister Lucy Teti, 82, former teacher at St. Joseph School in Hammonton, died last Monday at St. Joseph Hall, Villa Walsh in Morristown, N.J.
Born in Union City, N.J, Sister Lucy entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1949. She received her habit in 1950 and made her final religious profession in 1953. She began her teaching career in the primary grades, and then graduated to the intermediate and junior high levels. From 1981-86 she taught at St. Joseph School in Hammonton.
Sister Lucy also taught at other schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. She was principal at Holy Family School, Nutley, N.J, and vice-principal at Purification School, Ellwood City, Pa.
She also served as local superior for 18 years in various convents.
She was admitted to St. Joseph Hall Infirmary in June 2013, where she spent her last year.
Sister Lucy is survived by her sisters Mary Taeschler of Parlin, N.J.; Rose Magri of Merrick, Long Island, N.Y.; Diana Capirichio of Danbury, Conn., and one brother, Gene Teti of Toms River, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitors will be received at the St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, Morristown, on April 21, 2-4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the viewing. Interment will take place at Ave Maria Cemetery.
