Speaking English, Spanish and Creole, National Eucharistic Revival preacher Msgr. Joseph Malagreca led about 100 people in Adoration, urging all into a deeper prayer life with Jesus.
“Do not be afraid to be in His presence, even if you have sin,” Msgr. Malagreca said. “For Jesus says to you, ‘I have always loved you, even from the moment of conception.’”
“Fix your eyes on Jesus, who is present here,” he continued during the trilingual Holy Hour held Sept. 20 in Assumption Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Galloway. “As you look upon Jesus, He looks upon you.”

Msgr. Malagreca, pastor of Holy Cross Parish, Diocese of Brooklyn, is a designated U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Eucharistic preacher. Invited by the diocesan secretariats for Pastoral Outreach, and Evangelization and Hispanic Ministries, he is no stranger to South Jersey. Over the years, he has participated in numerous Haitian ministry events and Hispanic Charismatic Renewals in the Diocese of Camden.
“This is a unique Diocese,” he said, referencing South Jersey’s diversity and urging the faithful to explore the cultures and traditions of their Catholic brothers and sisters. “We need each other, and we need to pray with each other. In order to do that, we have to respect each other’s languages and cultures. Praying with other people is always enriching.”
Indeed, those kneeling in the pews – from families with children to individuals of all ages – listened as the parish choir sang in multiple languages. Msgr. Malagreca asked for prayers for issues the faithful may be going through – illness, death, loneliness, anxiety – and walked among them with the monstrance held high.
He asked those gathered to repeat after him: “You are the Lord, and I give you my life.”
