Jason Evert, chastity speaker and best-selling author, is returning to the Diocese of Camden to address families, teens and young adults on the subject of authentic love.

On Oct. 4 at 7 p.m., Evert will lead a talk on “College Dating 101” to young adults at Rowan University in Glassboro. The next day, Evert will hold a “Purified” presentation geared toward families and teens from 7-9 p.m. at Holy Angels Parish in Woodbury.

Both sessions, though focused on different audiences, will get to the heart of Evert’s ministry. He and his wife, Crystalina, run “The Chastity Project,” which helps teens and young adults understand authentic love, and answers their questions on topics such as dating, pornography, birth control, and marriage and family.

At Rowan University’s Chamberlain Student Center PIT, Evert’s “College Dating 101” talk will give attendees six proven strategies to build a foundation for lasting love, and guide them in gaining “the truth of what chastity means, what God has intended for sexual embrace and how to respect ourselves and others, [in addition to] being pure in a society that is that is so sexualized,” said Kari Janisse, director of the school’s Catholic Campus Ministry.

Rowan’s CCM students familiar with Evert’s work said they are excited for his visit.

“I read his book ‘How to Find Your Soulmate,’ and it was so profound … to learn my value in Christ,” said Katarina Henry, a member of the CCM’s Executive Board and leader of both its pro-life and women’s ministries.

She believes his message can change the hearts of everyone, especially young adults.

Father Peter Gallagher, parochial vicar at Holy Angels Parish, first heard Evert speak during a 2013 visit to the Diocese. Even then, Father Gallagher knew that “he was one who could witness, and joyfully speak to the Catholic understanding of relationships, friendships and the gift of chastity in a relatable way for young people.”

Evert’s presentation in Woodbury is centered on protecting and healing families, and open to families and teens age 13 and older. There also will be opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
