The office of papal liturgical ceremonies has published the list of holiday Masses and prayer services Pope Francis will celebrate during the Christmas season.
In addition to international and national networks, Domestic Church Media, the Catholic Lay Apostolate based in Lawrenceville, will broadcast live the Holy Father’s Christmas Eve Mass and his “urbi et orbi” on Christmas morning. All airings are in GMT+1 time, unless otherwise stated.
The Christmas liturgies include:
• Dec. 24 at 7:30 p.m., the pope will celebrate the Mass of the Nativity of the Lord in St. Peter’s Basilica. While the Mass is commonly referred to as “midnight Mass,” the Vatican celebration has been earlier for more than a decade. DCM will air this Mass live at 1:30 p.m. EST. It can also be watched on the EWTN at 1:30 p.m. EST, with an encore at 4 a.m. Dec. 25.
• Dec. 25 at noon, Pope Francis gives his message and blessing “urbi et orbi” (to the city and the world) from the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica. Both DCM and EWTN will broadcast the blessing live at 6 a.m. EST. EWTN will offer encourages at 3 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. the same day.
