While celebrating the Mass of the Ascension of the Lord on May 21, Bishop Dennis Sullivan installed seminarians Timothy Mulranen and Thomas Piro to the minor order of acolyte, the next-to-last step in the path to priesthood, above and below.
Piro and Mulranen, seen presenting the gifts below, were supported by dozens of family, friends, clergy and religious.

As acolytes, the seminarians will be charged with assisting the deacon and priest in liturgical celebrations, particularly the Liturgy of the Eucharist. During his homily at Church of the Incarnation, Mantua, Bishop Sullivan remarked that both Mulranen and Piro have received accolades by the formatters at Saint Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, N.Y. Perhaps the most notable accolade: that the administration has asked Bishop Sullivan to send more men from the Diocese of Camden to the seminary, as these two have become such excellent examples of dutiful seminarians.

The Bishop also thanked both seminarians’ parents, above, for raising such courageous sons who are willing to take on the great responsibility of the priesthood.
