The Diocese of Camden is pleased to announce that Michael J. Walsh has been named director of communications. In this capacity, he serves as an advisor to and the primary spokesperson for Bishop Dennis Sullivan and the diocese.

Walsh has spent most of his 20-year career as a journalist and public relations professional. He most recently managed communications for two national law firms headquartered in Philadelphia, as well as a South Jersey-based nonprofit organization.

A lifelong member of the Camden Diocese, Walsh is a proud graduate of St. Catherine’s Elementary School (now Saint Michael the Archangel Regional School) in Clayton and Gloucester Catholic High School. He is a member of Saint Bridget University Parish in Glassboro and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Walsh received his bachelor’s degree in history from Saint Joseph’s University and his master’s degree in public relations from Rowan University.

The Diocese of Camden’s Office of Communications primary mission is to promote the work and services provided by diocesan departments, schools, programs, and ministries within the Diocese of Camden through the public and media. It is responsible for the development of diocesan communication plans and addressing issues of concern to the church. It serves also as the liaison between all diocesan entities and media outlets.
