
Before COVID-19 restrictions, the Faith Formation Program at Saint Damien Parish, Ocean City, offered an inter-generational event every month. During the past year, on a weekly basis, email suggestions were sent for activities to engage all ages in learning, especially about the liturgical feasts and celebrations.
Families were invited to prepare for All Saints Day by participating in the All Hallows’ E’en Party on Zoom. On Fat Tuesday, families were helped to prepare for Lent with the Mardi Gras Celebration via Zoom.
Families were encouraged to participate in the Lenten Season and the events of Holy Week by getting involved in activities such as creating palm crosses. One family made a Paschal Candle to decorate their dining table. Some families did their own research on Lenten customs, and one family made homemade pretzels to remind them of take time to fold their arms in prayer frequently during Lent.
The Year of Saint Joseph began with a Zoom gathering for prayers, videos and songs. The Stations of the Cross were prayed using reflections and prayers composed by Saint Damien parishioners. On April 14, parishioners gathered on Zoom to pray the Resurrection Stations, a devotion popularized by Saint Pope John Paul II.
