Incarnation Parish, Mantua, will once again host Ireland’s Emmet Cahill for a concert and meet and greet.

Knights of Columbus Incarnation Council 6364 will host “An Evening with Emmet Cahill (of the Celtic Thunder)” concert Sept. 28 in the church. A meet and greet will take place for those who purchase tickets for that session from 6 to 7 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

“We had such a positive response last time he was here back in May 2019,” said past grand knight Karl Tomaszewski. “It is nice to know that we are able to open our parish up again and start having activities.”

In an interview with the Catholic Star Herald, Cahill likened his visits to church communities as coming “home.”

“I love performing for audiences who have a great appreciation for liturgical music,” he said. “I have also gotten to know so many of these communities personally over the years. They are like a second home to me – so welcoming and delighted to be able to enjoy the concerts as a community, whilst raising money for much-needed community causes and charities.”

The concert will feature a mix of religious music, as well as classical music, Irish numbers and well-known songs like “Danny Boy.” The parish has arranged for a baby grand piano for the event as well.

“I also speak about my life touring the world and share my own experiences, which people always enjoy hearing about,” Cahill said. “I take my audiences on a musical journey, so I hope they will feel that they have experienced that.”

Cahill, 30, is originally from Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland, and has performed in more than 80 cities throughout North America, including a sold-out debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2018.

His Irish album debuted at #1 on the Billboard World Music Charts, and he has earned titles including “Irish Tenor of the Year” and “Most Promising Young Singer.” In 2011, he was chosen as the lead singer of the international Irish music group, Celtic Thunder, and has performed over 350 shows with the group in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Cahill shared how much of an influence his faith has had on his life, and his career.

“I was raised Catholic in Ireland – my Dad was a church organist, so my earliest childhood memories are of being in church, singing these beautiful hymns with my family,” he said. “Faith has led me to where I am today, and now I am welcomed to sing for faith communities all over the world, which is truly a blessing.”

He said that those who attend his shows often take away different experiences.

“Everyone leaves with something different. I make the concert engaging, thought-provoking and ideally, inspiring for people,” he said. “We all want a little escape from the world now and again, so no better way to do that than through the medium of beautiful music.”

Concert tickets are $30, and tickets with access to a meet and greet are $45. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Karl at 609-440-3779 or Jeff at 856-371-2642. You can also visit EmmetCahill.com.
