For more than 30 years, the annual Afternoon of Jazz, Plus has benefited young students of Black and African descent in their desire to receive a quality Catholic education.
The tradition continues on Sunday, April 23, as the Diocese’s Black Apostolate as well as the Black Catholic Ministry Commission (BCMC) host the 31st event of fine dining, fellowship, dancing and jazz at Auletto Caterers in Almonesson.
“To the Max” will provide entertainment, while recipients of last year’s BCMC Catholic high school scholarships will address the audience and express gratitude to benefactors for their support.
The longstanding event “makes me proud that we’re able to continue helping eighth-grade youth who want to continue their Catholic education in high school,” says Cherryl Summers, BCMC pastoral associate.
The Afternoon of Jazz, Plus will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Cost is $70 per person, and benefits the BCMC Scholarship Fund. For more information, contact Lisa Scott Coley, chairwoman, at 856-313-7443, or lscottcoley.ls@gmail.com
