
Msgr. Joseph V. DiMauro, 82, former pastor and director of the Family Life Bureau in the Diocese of Camden, died April 6.
He had been retired since 2017, after four decades of dedicated priestly ministry in South Jersey.
Born in Philadelphia, he attended Resurrection College in Ontario, Canada, for seminary studies, and was ordained May 20, 1967, in Camden by Bishop Celestine J. Damiano. His first assignment was as parochial vicar at Saint Augustine Parish in Ocean City; he then served in this position at Saint Patrick in Woodbury.
As a pastor, he served at Saint Agnes Parish, Blackwood (1993-2005); Saint Patrick (2005-2010); Saint Matthew, National Park (2010); and Holy Angels, Woodbury (2010-2017).
Before becoming a pastor, Msgr. DiMauro also devoted years to family life ministry, serving as director of the Diocese’s Family Life Bureau; chairman of the Common Policy for Pastoral Marriage Preparation; diocesan coordinator for the White House Conference on Families in 1980, and secretary for Family Life in the Diocese, among other positions.
He also served the Diocese on the Buildings and Real Estate Committee, Planning Commissions, Cemetery Committee, College of Consultors and Presbyteral Council.
A Rite of Reception will be April 19, beginning at 3 p.m. at Saint Agnes Church, Our Lady of Hope Parish, 701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood. A viewing will follow until 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 7 p.m., celebrated by Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan.
A Prayer Service will be held April 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Ann Church, Notre Dame de la Mer Parish, 2901 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood. Entombment will immediately follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Cape May.
