Imagine you came upon someone who was unconscious and bleeding. Would you first learn their religion before you offered assistance?
Imagine your child, having impeccable high school credentials, applies for admission to a university. Should your religious persuasion be an admittance criterion?
Imagine someone impoverished and hungry going to a food bank for something to eat. Should the food bank turn him away if he doesn’t believe as they do?
This is what is offensive about the HHS Mandate in PPACA (“Obamacare”). Much of Christianity is guided by the Works of Mercy. Included among the Corporal variety are feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and minister to the sick. Instructing the ignorant and comforting the sorrowful are among the Spiritual variety. All these are done irrespective of the belief of those ministered to, because Christians believe that we are all children of the Creator. This is at the heart of Christian charity.
