Founded in 1887 by the U.S. bishops, The Catholic University of America is the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States. It educates seminarians, religious, bishops and laity to advance the dialogue between faith and reason. As a comprehensive institution of higher education, the university seeks to impart the truth through excellence in teaching and research, in service to the Church, the nation and the world.
With an enrollment of 5,171 – 3,139 of which are undergraduates – the university is the only school of Canon Law in the United States. Ninety-four percent of its faculty hold doctoral or terminal degrees.
