Knights of Columbus from throughout the state and beyond gathered Nov. 22 to both profess their own patriotism and to honor a brother whose good works had reflected it in action.
The late Albert E. Karwowski, a member of the Knights of Columbus Vineland Council 2531 and parishioner of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Vineland, was recognized during a Mass and Second District Exemplification of the Fourth Degree at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Saint Padre Pio Parish, Vineland.
Karwowski, who died June 27 at age 65, was honored with a plaque for his headstone and a charter denoting an Edison-based assembly as the Albert E. Karwowski Holy Innocents Assembly 1665.
Karwowski, elected as Second District Master in 2024, had served the communities aided by the Knights of Columbus in the Camden and Trenton Dioceses as well as the Diocese of Metuchen’s Middlesex County. Recently, his council helped organize food, clothing and supplies donated and shipped to war-torn Ukraine.
Overall, 60 men were installed as fourth-degree Knights on Nov. 22. Sir Knight John Brandon, of Vincent T. Lombardi Council 6552, was installed as the new Vice Supreme Master. Sir Knight Joseph Charmello, of Saint Cecilia Council 7046, was installed as District Master of the 2nd New Jersey District of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree.
