Bishop Dennis Sullivan joined the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal in providing pastoral care to the homeless who arrived March 6 at the Saint Joseph Winter Shelter in Atlantic City. Bishop Sullivan – joined by his priest-secretary, Father Joshua Nevitt – helped hand out and stack plastic bins for the women and men to store their personal belongings for the night. After blessing the meal prepared by volunteers, the Bishop and Father Nevitt visited with the shelter’s clients, the volunteers and CFR sisters. The shelter, located in the Parish of Saint Monica’s Quaremba Hall, behind Saint Michael Church, has been a place of respite from the cold since December. Throughout the winter, the CFR sisters, assisted by parishioners from around the Diocese, have provided shelter, meals and spiritual guidance to those in need in the Atlantic City area. In addition to lending a helping hand, the Bishop joined the CFR sisters for prayer and camaraderie earlier in the day.
