In a recent letter to pastors, Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan has lifted the prohibition of distribution of the Precious Blood to diocesan faithful, effective this Sunday, June 11, 2023, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi).
This decision brings to an end regulations announced in a pandemic-era memo from May 8, 2020, where Bishop Sullivan issued COVID-19 directives for public Masses that included regulations on distribution of the Most Precious Blood, that stated that “the Precious Blood is not (to) be distributed to the faithful, nor should the faithful receive the Eucharist by intinction.”
Bishop Sullivan’s decision to lift the final pandemic directive came after seeking the counsel of the Vicars Forane and the Presbyteral Council.
