The Philadelphia Phillies’ General Manager, Ruben Amaro, Jr., just might find some help for his team’s woes on ballfields in the Camden Diocese. On July 30, the parish softball team from Our Lady of Peace in Williamstown defeated their counterparts from St. Charles Borromeo, Sicklerville, by a score of 20-13, in the championship game of the Camden Diocese Parish Softball League. For Our Lady of Peace, the victory marked their second league championship in the last four years. At left, Pete Cipolone at bat. In addition to Our Lady of Peace and St. Charles Borromeo, the league also saw competition among St. Bridget, Glassboro; Our Lady of Hope, Blackwood; Holy Family, Washington Township; Holy Angels, Woodbury; and St. Rose of Lima, Haddon Heights. Capping off the league’s season was an All-Star game Aug. 5 with players from all seven teams taking the field together.
