From sticks to socks, Lily Cuticchia is making a difference in South Jersey, one sole at a time.
On July 20, Cooper University Health Care in Camden gratefully accepted almost 1,200 new pairs of socks Lily received in donations from around the community.
On a recent walk with her mother, the 6-year-old, an incoming second grader at Saint Rose of Lima School in Haddon Heights, began collecting sticks, which she hoped to polish and “sell them so I can help those in need.”
Her mother, Jordan Murphy, an employee at Cooper University Health Care, mentioned another opportunity to help — the Addiction Medicine Department (where Jordan worked) and the Emergency Department were in need of socks for their patients.
What started out as a simple collection among friends and relatives ended up growing as people heard of Lily’s determination.
A collective feat, for feet.
