Damaris Thillet, associate director of Music, Worship and Christian Initiation for the Diocese of Camden, was one of 12 inspirational leaders from Cumberland County honored Oct. 18 at the Ramada Inn in Vineland, during DH/Perfil Latino TV, Inc.’s “Adelante Dos! A Hispanic Heritage and Multicultural Celebration.”
Receiving the “Musical Youth Mentor” award, Thillet was recognized for her work as a music teacher, composer and vocalist. Since 1986, she has been part of the Instituto Nacional de Liturgia Hispana, and also serves on the executive board as the Northeast representative. She is also the president, and one of the founders, of AMPHE (Asociación de Músicos Pastorales Hispanos Del Este), the East Coast Pastoral Musicians Association.
Also among the honorees was Carlos Roman of Divine Mercy Parish, Vineland. Named a “Religious Community Leader,” Roman is the coordinator of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Prayer Group, coordinates spiritual retreats for the parish and is a Pre-Cana instructor.
