The sixth annual Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, and promises to be a day of praise, worship, liturgy and evangelization for Hispanics in the Diocese of Camden.
The conference will take place from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, the Parish of St. Monica, 2651 Atlantic Ave., in Atlantic City.
The day and its theme, “Be always happy in the Lord,” from Philippians 4:4, will emphasize joy and the Catholic faith in Catholic families, consistent with the recent World Meeting of Families Congress in Philadelphia, and this week’s Synod on the Family.
The keynote speaker, a priest from Colombia, will give presentations on evangelization and catechesis to families. A special prayer will also be given to families, and Silvia Mariella, a singer/songwriter from Paraguay familiar to the Diocese of Camden, will lead a concert.
Andres Arango, Bishop’s Delegate for Hispanic Ministry in the Diocese of Camden, hopes that the event “will be a place where powerful prayer over the families will take place. We believe God wants to heal so many people to bring his love into our families and communities.”
Kathia Arango, coordinator of the Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal, called the congress “a great opportunity to continue living the teachings that Pope Francis recently gave us in Philadelphia. It would be a great place for the families to pray together and claim the presence of God into their homes.”
The next day, Oct. 25, will be a day of formation for leaders of charismatic prayer groups in diocesan parishes.
