James C. Harshaw, priest’s brother, dies


James C. Harshaw, the brother of Father Albert E. Harshaw, chaplain of Cooper Medical Center, Camden, died Dec. 7.

Mr. Harshaw, 64, was born in Ventnor but has resided in Howell since 1982.

An alumni of Mother Savior Seminary in Blackwood, he graduated from Holy Spirit High School in Absecon in 1966, and was a1971 graduate of Spring Garden College. In 1972, he began working for Bell Labs, and in 1978 he graduated from the Stevens Institute of Technology with a master’s in Electronic Engineering.

Mr. Harshaw retired from Lucent Technologies in 2003, after dedicating 36 years of service to the company. He was also president of Worlwide Telecom Business Development Corporation.

In addition to Father Harshaw, he is survived by wife, Mary Ellen; children Albert E. and wife Tricia, Harry J. and wife Dr. Melissa, James C., Jr. and wife Patricia, Mary T., Catherine Harshaw-Barnard and husband Robert Barnard, and Timothy G.; twin brother Francis; and 10 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 11 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Linwood. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
