Sister Mary Immaculate Conway, Sister of Mercy, 95, a graduate of Camden Catholic High School, died peacefully Feb. 8 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung, N.J.
Sister Immaculate, one of seven children, was born in Philadelphia. Her family moved to New Jersey when she was very young. She graduated from Camden Catholic High School in 1937, and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1941. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Georgian Court University, Lakewood, N.J. She also studied at Boston College, Boston University and Fordham University, N.Y.
She taught at elementary and high schools in New Jersey, and served as librarian in Perth Amboy Catholic School System and as support staff to St Stephen Campus in Perth Amboy. She also provided auxiliary services at Mount Saint Mary, and then retired to McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung in 2006.
She is survived by her brothers, John Conway of Cherry Hill and William Conway of Havertown, Pa., many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and Sisters of Mercy in the Mid-Atlantic Community.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Feb. 12 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center. Burial was in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, N.J. Memorial Donations may be made to Sisters of Mercy Mid-Atlantic Community, 1645 Highway 22, Watchung, NJ 07069
