Msgr. M. Joseph Mannion, who has served as pastor of St. John Parish in Collingswood for nearly three decades, will retire Aug. 31.
Msgr. Mannion, 72, spent nearly half of his priestly ministry in Collingswood, being appointed pastor there on Jan. 3, 1981.
Previously he had served in Catholic education, at Camden Catholic High School, 1967-78, and Sacred Heart High School, Vineland, 1978-81, where he was guidance director.
He also served as parochial vicar of St. Bartholomew Parish, Camden, 1962-63; St. Joan of Arc, Camden, 1963-65; St. Edward, Pine Hill, 1965-67; and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Camden, 1967-69.
A native of County Mayo, Ireland, Msgr. Mannion was ordained to the priesthood in Carlow, Ireland, on June 9, 1962, after completing studies at St. Patrick’s Seminary there.
