Rosemary E. Schamp, the former business and enrollment specialist for the Diocese’s Office of Catholic Schools, died July 19. She was 73.

A parishioner of Our Lady of Hope, Blackwood, Schamp earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Rutgers University in 1972 and a master’s of business administration from Drexel University in 1989. Prior to working for the Diocese of Camden, she held numerous positions, including as dean of communications and enrollment development at Camden County College, Blackwood.
“Rosemary was a kind and gentle presence to all she served,” said Dr. Bill Watson, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Camden. “Her work was always meticulous, and her faith was inspiring. She was a trusted member of our team who left peace wherever she went.”
Marianela Nuñez, diocesan director of enrollment and outreach for the Office of Catholic Schools, remembered Schamp as always being patient and professional.
“I learned a lot from her, both on the enrollment side of my job and from her faith,” Nuñez said. “Rosemary helped me transition into my role [with Catholic schools] with love and grace. She said to me, ‘I am sure you can do this, you will be great!’ I still have folders with her notes on my computer.”
She continued, “Rosemary was a daily Mass-goer and was always looking for opportunities to enrich her spiritual life. She was such a devoted Catholic and loving mother and grandma.”
Before Our Lady of Hope parish, she was a longtime member of Saint Edward Parish in Pine Hill (now Saint Simon Stock, Berlin).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale R. Schamp. She is survived by children Erin (Derek) Barow of Mickleton and Ryan Schamp of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Liam and Oliva Barow; siblings Judith Chant, George (Linda) Chant and Norma (John) Neimeister; companion Joseph Pasquarello of Medford; and many loving nieces and nephews.
