Sister Mary Edwardine Brown, who led many retreats in Cape May, died on Feb. 2 peacefully at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, N.J. She was 87.
She entered the Sisters of Mercy in Watchung in 1952 after her high school graduation. For 40 years, she taught primary and intermediate grades in parish schools.
In her later years, Sister Edwardine joined two sisters whose ministry was spiritual direction, retreats and programs in Mays Landing. Most recently, she transitioned to the retirement community at Mount Saint Mary.
Sister Edwardine is survived by many Sisters of Mercy and many nieces and nephews.
