
Sister Andrew Marie Cavanaugh, IHM, 93, who served the sick in Cape May County, died Jan. 8 in Camilla Hall, Malvern, Pa.
Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Sept. 8, 1950, and made first vows April 5, 1953.
After teaching in schools in Pennsylvania for six decades, Sister Andrew Marie (formerly known as Marie Cavanaugh) was assigned to Saint John Neumann Parish in North Cape May beginning in 2013, and ministered to the sick there until 2023.
Most recently, she resided at the religious community’s Villa Maria By the Sea Retreat Center in Stone Harbor, lovingly and faithfully serving the surrounding community.
In addition to her IHM community, she is survived by her twin sister, Kathryn (Cavanaugh) Monroe; her nephew, William (Sheryl); niece, Mary Ann, and grandnephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, Andrew Cavanaugh and Marie (Moran) Cavanaugh, and her brother-in-law, William Monroe.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Jan. 15 at Camilla Hall Nursing Home, Malvern. Interment was at Immaculata Cemetery in Malvern.
