The Papal Order traces its roots to the 11th century and the time of the first crusade. Today, the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre work to promote the practice of Christian life in absolute fidelity to the pope and the teachings of the Church; to sustain and assist the religious, spiritual, charitable and social works of the Church in the Holy Land; and to conserve and propagate the faith in the Holy Land and the rights of the Catholic Church there.
