One day after being ordained to the priesthood, Father Thomas Piro and Father Timothy Mulranen celebrated their First Masses, with clergy, family and friends witnessing the joyous occasions. On the morning of May 18 at Saint Ann Church, Notre Dame de la Mer Parish, Wildwood, homilist Father Michael Romano encouraged Father Piro to serve with compassion and zeal as he begins his priestly ministry at Saint Bridget University Parish, Glassboro. Father Romano, former diocesan director of vocations, wished Father Piro well as he begins his ministry, which will include walking with students of Rowan University.
Later that day, Father Raymond Gormley preached the homily for Father Mulranen’s First Mass at Church of the Incarnation, Mantua. “Yesterday, the boyhood dream of being called a priest of Jesus Christ became a reality,” shared Father Gormley, the former parish pastor who currently serves in Avalon. Father Mulranen will serve in Saint Joseph Parish, Somers Point. Both of the new priests thanked their parents and all in their communities who have supported their vocation to the priesthood.
