“The Eucharist is truly a glimpse of heaven appearing on earth. It is a glorious ray of the heavenly Jerusalem which pierces the clouds of our history and lights up our journey.” – Pope Saint John Paul II, “Ecclesia de Eucharistia”

Catholic Churches in the Diocese of Camden will celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ the weekend of June 1-2 in many ways. Honoring the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, this day is traditionally marked with Eucharistic processions, public signs of faith and Adoration.

Father Vincent Guest, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, reflected on last year’s Eucharistic procession, which traversed Camden’s streets by starting at the church and stopping at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and then Saint Joseph Pro-Cathedral.

“Along the procession route, we passed by homeless men and women and people suffering from the pandemic of addiction. As we paused to bless them, many bowed their heads in respect and blessed themselves. It was very moving for us all,” he said.

Below, find out what South Jersey’s Catholic communities are doing to mark this holy feast. Visit parish websites for more information.
