In honor of their patron saint, Saint Joseph the Worker, Saint Joseph Regional School, Somers Point, held their annual day of service May 1. The day began with a school-wide prayer service in the gym, followed by a visit from students from Holy Spirit High School, Absecon. The students spoke about their experiences with school service projects and what they found meaningful from the work.

In addition, the youngsters took part in a hand washing activity in which each grade had a designated station with a bowl, water and towelettes. Asked to remain silent, with only reflective music being heard throughout the gym, each grade was called forward to have their hands washed by their teacher – reminiscent to the Washing of the Feet on Holy Thursday.
Once back in the classroom, with materials donated by parents and community members, students in the various grades began working on service projects for local community partners including Beacon of Hope, the Somers Point Police and Fire Departments, the Humane Society of Ocean City, Sisters of Saint Joseph Convent, and many more. Once the projects were completed, members of the administration, faculty, and select students visited their partner organizations to drop off their completed donations.
