Our Lady of Mercy Academy senior pitcher Emma Douglas surpassed another major milestone May 16 as she recorded her 800th career strikeout in a 3-2 victory over Gloucester Catholic High School.
Douglas, a University of Scranton commit, carried a perfect game into the seventh inning before the Rams broke it up with a pair of runs. Douglas ended the game with 17 strikeouts.
Earlier this month, Douglas also collected her 100th career hit.
“She’s just so impressive,” OLMA coach Rebecca Steiger said. “She’s just shown us all four years how impressive she is, and she keeps getting better and better. I think there’s nothing she can’t do when she sets her mind to it. Eight hundred strikeouts is almost unheard of. She’s the heart of our team for sure.”
