I was shocked to read that an organization called “Catholics in Media Association” awarded the TV-sitcom “Modern Family” a “film award” (News Briefs April 6), The TV-sitcom does not deserve a so-called Catholic Award. It is a crude, course show that depicts two gay men living together (“married”) who have adopted a baby girl. It also depicts a couple living together legally but not morally. The children depicted in the show are disobedient and disrespectful of adults. This so-called Catholic organization is made up of “prominent Catholics in the entertainment industry” who claim that the show “uplifts the spirit and helps us better understand what it is to be part of the human family.” Please. Let’s have a more critical eye when deciding what press releases from the community to publish and appear to endorse.
