Area organizations are asking the community for help in providing 2,500 wreaths this holiday season for veterans’ graves in Atlantic County.
Mays Landing’s third annual Wreaths Across America is set to take place Dec. 13 at Holy Cross Cemetery. The cemetery is adjacent to Saint Vincent de Paul Parish.
So far, only half of the needed number of wreaths have been sold. The deadline to buy/sponsor a wreath is Nov. 30.
“We need your help,” said Peter Eschbach of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 220, the local Wreaths Across America organizer and parishioner of Saint Vincent de Paul. “We don’t know them all, but we owe them all.”
Each wreath is sponsored at a cost of $17.
The Wreaths Across America ceremony will begin at noon on Dec. 13; Bishop Joseph Williams is scheduled to attend. For each wreath sponsored through the parish, the Saint Vincent de Paul Parish Food Pantry will receive $5 to help run its operations. Saint Vincent de Paul Regional is also participating, with sponsorships supporting the school.
